About Sandy Lee

Sandra’s creative journey began with a pencil and a dream. As a child, she found joy in sketching and shading, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of realism and storytelling through art.

After more than three decades in the corporate world, a casual paint and sip session reignited her passion for painting—at a time when she needed it most. What began as a creative outlet soon became a source of healing through grief and a path back to herself. Today, art is the heartbeat of Sandy Lee Artistry.

Now a full-time professional artist, Sandra is best known for her equestrian artwork, where her soul truly comes alive. She is deeply drawn to the challenge of capturing movement, emotion, and the raw power and grace of horses. Each piece tells a story—not only of the subject, but of the connection between motion and emotion.

Sandra’s work is recognised within the Australian racing community. She has painted multiple official inductee portraits for the Australian Racing Hall of Fame, including Black Caviar & Peter Moody, Winx & Hugh Bowman, Zac Purton & Sacred Elixir, Mahogany & Greg Hall, Hydrogen, and Keith Ballard (Spirit of Racing Inductee). Beyond the Hall of Fame, she has painted respected racing figures such as Robert Heathcote with Rothfire, as well as multiple works of Abounding, the star of the 2024 Magic Millions, capturing the mare’s journey and spirit over time.

While equestrian art is her specialty, Sandra works across a wide range of subjects—from wedding portraits and family heirlooms to beloved pets, landscapes, and florals. She thrives on complexity, whether restoring old memories or combining multiple references into one meaningful scene, ensuring every artwork is deeply personal and entirely unique.

Sandra’s signature style balances realism with expression. From a distance, her oil paintings appear photo-realistic; up close, they reveal confident brushwork, layered texture, and painterly detail. No two artworks are ever the same—each piece finds its own rhythm.

The spirit of Sandy Lee Artistry is embodied in her first major work, Resilience—a powerful black-and-white lion symbolising strength, courage, and the ability to rise. Today, Sandra shares her art and journey through social media, offering connection, encouragement, and inspiration—one brushstroke at a time.
